The urban plan includes a reorganisation of Marinhas village structure where the core area will be intensified (residential, commercial and public buildings) and its public space redesigned. A new street by-pass for inter-local and fast traffic, outside the existing central constructed area, creates a base condition to transform the public space of this area focusing on pedestrians, green space and social programmes. A new axis with solid trees gives structure to the area and connects the southern part with the northern part which is planned as a new residential area. The new axis also organises space for recreation, physical exercise and sport (for all ages), as well as for a new community centre, a new parish room and a new youth hostel (attached to the St. Jakob Route).
