PORTO em MOVIMENTO
During one week, in a workshop setting, a group of citizens from different areas met at the José Rodrigues Foundation to reflect on the city of Porto. The first day, a proactive and creative attitude was proposed, resulting in more than 50 ideas. A rich pallet of ideas were mentioned, that varied from concrete actions to imaginary future ideas, and put with post-its on a cork board. This made a collective discussion possible, where the various ideas were explained individually and in relation with other ideas. Some ideas were grouped together because they were or complementary or overlapping, other ideas had a more autonomous character.
The group selected the three strongest ideas, where three groups worked during the workshop week. The three proposals were: ´Urban Voices´(Grupo Vazios Urbanos) about empty private spaces and their potential for temporary uses; ´Dreaming the City´ (Sonhar a cidade) about the city in the eyes of children and their imaginary space; and ´Lively City´ (Viver a Cidade) about the re-use and re-design of the public space for pedestrians, cyclists and sport.
During the week many discussions, site visits, schemes, drawings and action list were produced and shared with all. The elaborated proposals had in common the desire to change the public space, creating more opportunities for outdoor collective activities – spaces for socialisation and leisure. A city for the inhabitants of Porto, who want to live the street, the garden and the square.
