CITY.making
City.making was an online interactive website that brought ideas, people and places together. Organising and creating conditions for temporary city transformation, using the existing urban space in a smarter and more effective way. It brought offer and demand together. The online interactive map showed ideas and potential places, giving everybody the possibility to participate and realise new projects in their own city or neighbourhood. Together, we were making the city.
The platform had the aim to share and give visibility to inspiring temporary projects developed in several European cities and allowed knowledge exchange needed to start new experiences in other cities. The aim of the City.making map was to match the supply of (temporarily) available spaces with the demand: ideas by citizens and organisations looking for a place to materialise.
Status: the website was temporary online and was tested within an ongoing project, about under-used private spaces in the Porto region, of CCDRN (regional planning organisation, Porto area).
